1st Year

1st Year consisted of Design AND Construction, allowing us to get a taster of each so we could specialise in one in our 2nd year. The design projects consisted of life drawing, costume drawing, costume design through sketch and CAD, and set design, making a set box for the chosen play; 'Entertaining Mr Sloane'.
For the Construction project we were provided with an era between 1400-1700, and a colour. From these choices I had to work with a 1600's design in white. I was provided with a sketch and had to interpret it as close to the design as possible; choosing the correct fabrics to create a character and to fit my actress.

More photos to come (my computer can only handle a few at a time, and there's a lot!!)

Year 0

To begin my studies in Costume I did a year 0 course, this is a mix of all my sketchbook work from that year.

This project was based on Location

Inspiration from the Russel Cotes Museum

Research into 19th Century clothing

The final design encorporating the Location theme with my chosen era

Big insirations

When I was 17 I travelled to Peru with a group of 11 people aged 16-67 to do aid work, it was the most amazing experience- from the people I met to the places I stayed. My inspiration grew when visiting a small village called Cabanaconde where I felt I had travelled back in time; surrounded by dust tracks and donkeys. The people there wore the most beautiful clothes rich with embroided decoration.
